The Sonos Roam Wireless Charger is a magnetic charging base built specifically for the Roam family. Magnets in the pad line up with the base of the speaker so it attaches by itself when set down - no cable to plug in, no connector to find in the dark, and the speaker can sit either upright or on its side while charging.
This is the Lunar White finish, intended to pair with white Roam speakers. Sonos lists compatibility with Roam, Roam SL and Roam 2, and supplies a 10W USB power adapter in the box along with a 3.9 ft (1.2 m) cable. Sonos rates the charger at IP54 for dust and splash resistance, which is a sensible allowance for a speaker that moves between a kitchen counter, a bathroom shelf and a patio table. Power draw is 5 VDC at 2.1 A (10.2 W) in, 5 W out, taking a Roam from empty to roughly half charge in about two hours.
Practically, the value is behavioral: a charging base by the door or on a counter means the speaker gets topped up every time it is put down, instead of being found flat when it is wanted.
