    Description

This is an electrical installation part, not a camera or doorbell. The Ring Wirewound Resistor is wired into the existing doorbell circuit so a Ring Video Doorbell (1st Generation) or Ring Video Doorbell 2 can draw continuous trickle power from the home's low-voltage transformer instead of running the device down to a dead battery. Installers use it when an older mechanical or digital chime circuit will not deliver clean power to the doorbell on its own.

The component is a 25 Ohm, 50 Watt resistor rated to 300V maximum working voltage in a gold anodized aluminium shell that sheds heat during operation. It is a small, flat part that tucks into the chime housing or a junction box. Installation should follow the included manual and local electrical code — if you are unsure about the transformer or chime wiring, use a licensed electrician.
