The Ring Smart Lighting Motion Sensor is a standalone accessory - not a light and not a camera. Its job is to watch a spot your existing fixtures cannot see and tell the rest of your Ring system when something moves there. Mount it near a gate, a shed door, a stairwell, a side path or a driveway entrance and it will switch on linked Ring smart lights, send a notification to your phone, and kick off Alexa routines.
It runs on three AAA batteries, so there is no wiring and no transformer; a typical mount takes five to ten minutes. The white housing is IP66 weather resistant and rated from -4°F to 122°F, which makes it practical in exposed outdoor positions year round. Sensitivity is tuned in the Ring app, and the sensor pairs over Amazon Sidewalk with a Ring Bridge or compatible hub. It works with Ring pathlights, steplights, spotlights, floodlights, the A19 smart bulb, the Outdoor Smart Plug and the Transformer.
