Plug the adapter into a standard indoor outlet, run the low-voltage cable out to the doorbell, and the device runs on continuous power instead of a battery you have to pull and recharge. It is a favourite of dealers working in apartments, condos and rentals where opening walls is not an option, and the supplied cable clips let you route the wire neatly through a window frame, door frame or drilled pass-through.
