The Ring Alarm Range Extender (2nd generation) is the fix for sensors that sit at the edge of the Z-Wave network — a basement door, a detached garage, the far end of a ranch-style house. Plugged into any standard outlet between the base station and the problem device, it relays signals and pulls those sensors back into reliable range.
It carries an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery rated for up to 24 hours, so a power cut does not silently open a hole in the alarm's coverage. Setup is done in the Ring app; there is nothing to wire and nothing to configure. The compact body measures about 1.86 x 3.19 x 1.66 in. including the plug pins, so it will not crowd the second socket on a duplex outlet. Larger properties can run more than one extender. A Ring Alarm or Ring Alarm Pro Security Kit is required, sold separately.
