The Ring Alarm 8-Piece Kit (2nd generation) is the mainstream whole-home package in Ring's alarm line: enough hardware to secure four entry points and one interior zone, sized for a typical two- or three-bedroom house. It is a straightforward DIY install for a homeowner and a quick, repeatable install for a dealer, with everything configured through the Ring app.
The kit ships with a base station carrying a 104 dB siren and 24-hour backup battery, a keypad with Disarmed, Home and Away modes, four door/window contact sensors, a motion detector and a plug-in range extender to push Z-Wave coverage across the property. Sensors talk to the base station at up to 250 ft. line of sight and the contact sensors run for roughly three years on coin cells. Self-monitoring in the app costs nothing; professional monitoring with cellular and backup internet is available on an eligible Ring subscription with no long-term contract.
