The Ring Alarm 5-Piece Kit (2nd generation) is the entry point into Ring's security system — a compact starter package for an apartment, condo or small home, and a low-friction upsell for dealers who already sell Ring doorbells and cameras. It arms and disarms from the keypad, the Ring app or a compatible Alexa device, and it scales up simply by pairing more Ring Alarm sensors to the base station.
The kit includes a base station with a 104 dB siren and 24-hour backup battery, a keypad with Disarmed, Home and Away modes, one door/window contact sensor, one motion detector and a plug-in range extender that pushes Z-Wave coverage further into the building. Sensors reach roughly 250 ft. line of sight to the base station. There is no contract: self-monitoring through the app is free, and professional monitoring with cellular backup can be added on an eligible Ring subscription.
