This is rough-in hardware, not a speaker. The Large Round Flex Bracket is a Sonance-manufactured pre-construction bracket used on the Sonos Architectural by Sonance line and on Sonance's own large round Visual Performance and VX in-ceiling models. It is installed between joists before the ceiling is closed, holding the exact speaker location so the drywall crew can cut a clean opening later and the speaker lands where the design drawings put it — not where the trades happened to leave room. The bracket body is ABS with metal wing members that adjust to span between joists, and the assembly marks the cutout position so the aperture can be located after board is hung. Using flex brackets is standard practice on new builds and gut remodels: it removes the guesswork from ceiling layout, keeps left and right channels symmetrical, and protects the speaker cavity from insulation and debris during construction.
