Ray is the smallest bar in the Sonos home theater range, sized for bedrooms, apartments, offices, dorms, and any room where a full-width soundbar would dominate the furniture. At just under 22 inches, it slides onto a console or credenza in front of most TVs without blocking the screen, and its forward-facing driver array is deliberately tuned for enclosed spaces where reflected sound would otherwise muddy dialogue.
Two tweeters and two high-efficiency midwoofers are driven by four Class-D amplifiers, with a low-velocity bass reflex port that adds weight to soundtracks and music without introducing port noise at higher volumes. Ray connects to the television over a single included optical cable and learns your existing TV remote through its built-in infrared receiver, so day-to-day operation does not change. Trueplay tuning measures the room with an iOS device and adjusts the response to the surfaces around the speaker, while Speech Enhancement lifts dialogue and Night Sound compresses loud effects for late viewing.
On the network side, Ray joins the rest of a Sonos system over WiFi for whole-home playback, supports Apple AirPlay 2, and can later be expanded with a Sub Mini or Sub 4 and a pair of rear surrounds.
