Sonos built this bracket specifically for the Era 300 cabinet, which is why it holds the speaker closer to the wall than a universal mount and keeps the finished install looking like part of the room. The ball-and-socket joint allows 15 degrees of tilt and 15 degrees of swivel, so after the wall plate is fixed you can still aim the up-firing and side-firing drivers at the listening position. A 2.5 in standoff leaves clearance behind the speaker for a Sonos Line-In Adapter or Combo Adapter, and both the ports and the touch controls remain accessible once the speaker is on the wall. Wall mounting an Era 300 also frees the shelf or console it was sharing and cuts down the reflections and vibration that come with furniture placement. Installation requires anchoring into a stud; drywall anchors alone are not sufficient.
