The Combo Adapter is a small split cable, not a speaker. Sonos removed the dedicated line-in and Ethernet jacks from its newer speakers in favor of a single USB-C port, and this adapter restores both functions at once: one leg terminates in an RJ45 Ethernet connector for hardwiring the speaker to your router, the other in a 3.5 mm analog input for connecting a turntable preamp, CD player, media player, or any other line-level source.
Being able to do both simultaneously is the point. The alternative, a line-in-only adapter, forces a choice between analog input and a wired network connection. Hardwiring matters in installations with thick walls, congested wireless, or a speaker at the edge of coverage, and it is often required in commercial spaces where the wireless network is locked down.
The adapter is roughly 7.9 inches long and weighs well under an ounce. It works with Era 100, Era 100 SL, Era 300, and Move 2. Note that the Ethernet cable and the 3.5 mm audio cable are not supplied - order them to the length your installation requires.
