Five is the reference speaker in the Sonos wireless range, aimed at listeners who want scale and detail from one box. Six class-D amplifiers drive three tweeters — one center and two angled outward — alongside three midwoofers in a sealed cabinet. That sealed architecture keeps bass tight and controlled rather than boomy, while the angled tweeters produce genuine stereo separation from a single unit.
A 3.5 mm line-in accepts a turntable with a phono preamp, a CD player or any other analog source, and that signal can be shared to other Sonos rooms on the system. Connectivity is Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet, with Apple AirPlay 2 for direct casting from Apple devices. Trueplay measures how the room is reflecting sound and adjusts the output accordingly, and bass, treble and loudness remain adjustable in the app. Five can be oriented horizontally or stood vertically, and two of them can be bonded into a stereo pair for a full left-right presentation. Note that Five has no built-in microphone and no Bluetooth streaming.
