Beam (Gen 2) is the compact Sonos soundbar, 25.63 inches wide and under three inches tall, aimed at bedrooms, apartments, and mid-size living rooms where a full-length bar would overwhelm the furniture. Five Class D amplifiers drive one center tweeter and four elliptical midwoofers, with three passive radiators extending the low end without a separate subwoofer.
The second generation adds HDMI eARC and Dolby Atmos processing, using psychoacoustic techniques to place height and surround cues around the room rather than relying on up-firing drivers. Format support covers Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, DTS Digital Surround, and multichannel PCM. Trueplay measures the room and adjusts the response for the shelf or console the bar actually sits on, while Speech Enhancement and Night Sound make dialogue intelligible at low volume. A single HDMI cable is included, and the bar can later join a Sonos Sub and a pair of surrounds for a full system. This listing is the matte white finish.
