The 8-inch version of the Sonos and Sonance in-ceiling speaker is built for larger rooms, open-plan spaces and installations where a ceiling pair has to carry the low end without a subwoofer. Each speaker combines an 8-inch polypropylene woofer with a 1.2-inch (30 mm) tweeter in a passive 8-ohm design, handling up to 225 watts and reaching 113 dB maximum SPL at one meter.
Driven by a Sonos Amp, the pair gets a Sonos-authored DSP profile and custom Trueplay tuning, which together pull usable response down to 29 Hz and correct for the room's reflections. Nominal coverage is 100 degrees axisymmetric, so a well-planned layout gives even coverage across a wide listening area rather than hot spots directly under each speaker.
The bezel-less magnetic grille sits flush with the ceiling and is paintable, and Sonance's Roto-Lock quick-mounting system speeds up the install. A single Sonos Amp can drive up to three pairs. Because of the 10.125-inch cutout and 5.32-inch mounting depth, confirm joist spacing and above-ceiling clearance during planning. Professional installation is recommended.
