Sonos Amp Multi is the multizone amplifier for larger installs, replacing a stack of individual amps with a single chassis. Eight independently configurable amplified outputs deliver 125 watts per channel into 8 ohms with all channels driven, and they can be assigned across as many as four separate zones. A Class D output stage using GaN devices and post-filter feedback keeps distortion at 0.005% and damping factor above 400, with frequency response held to plus or minus 0.5 dB from 15 Hz to 20 kHz.
Tuning happens through ProTune, which gives each channel a 10-band parametric EQ with plus or minus 15 dB of gain, delay up to 50 ms, gain trim, and high-pass filtering from 15 to 100 Hz, so an integrator can voice a restaurant, retail floor, or multi-room residence properly. Connections include two RCA analog inputs, a USB-C analog input, an RCA subwoofer output, eight banana-plug speaker outputs, and RJ45 Ethernet, with WiFi 6 and AirPlay 2 alongside. The fanless chassis idles at 5.4 watts and racks in 2U with the optional Sonos rack mount.
